The Rwenzori three-horned chameleon lives only in this mountain range. Reptile diversity in the lower forest is remarkably high for a mountain environment. Rwenzori birds include numerous Albertine Rift endemics that draw serious birders to this range. The Rwenzori turaco, double-collared sunbird, and nightjar all occur in the montane forest zone.
